Elier Fernandez was born in Havana, Cuba and raised in Miami, Florida. Mr. Fernandez attended Florida International University where he received Bachelor Degrees in Political Science in 2008 and in International Relations in 2009, with Certificates in European Studies and Latin American and Caribbean Studies. Mr. Fernandez earned his Juris Doctor from Saint Thomas University School of Law 2012, with Certificate in Intercultural Human Rights Law. During law school, Mr. Fernandez was the recipient of the Saint Thomas University School of Law Merit Scholarship, multiple Dean’s List Awards, and interned for the Honorable Judge Abby Cynnamon, of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida.
Prior to joining DRBDC, Mr. Fernandez practiced in the areas of community association law, construction law affecting community associations, general corporate law, litigation, personal injury, bankruptcy, immigration and family law. Prior to attending law school worked for a real estate investment firm, a City of Miami Commissioner and several Political campaigns.
Mr. Fernandez enjoys the benefits of living in South Florida, fishing, boating and is a certified SCUBA diver. He also enjoys attending local film and arts festivals, cultural events, as well as participating in events that give back to the community. Mr. Fernandez is fluent in Spanish.
